Silvertips hire new GM; Former T-Bird scores first NHL goal

The Everett Silvertips have hired a new GM, after firing Doug Soetaert earlier this month. Garry Davidson steps in to help the troubled team. If his name sounds familiar, he was the Director of Player Development for the Portland Winterhawks. I don't know the ins and outs of what happened, but luckily, Nick Patterson from the Everett Herald has been all over the situation.  CLICK HERE to read his take on things.

We love to see former WHL players doing well in the bigs. This week, former Seattle Thunderbirds fave Jim O'Brien scored his FIRST NHL goal! It happened last night during Ottawa's 6-2 drubbing of the Florida Panthers.

Here's the goal:

And here are Jimmy's thoughts about his first goal:

I had the chance to see another former T-Bird in action at the AHL All Star Game, January 29 & 30th in Atlantic City, NJ. Thomas Hickey is in his third and final year of his entry level contract with the Los Angeles Kings and he's been solid on the blue line. He took part in several skills competitions and enjoyed himself in the All Star game.  CLICK HERE for my recap of the skills competition for the KING 5 Sports website.
